Dear NRDC Action Fund Supporter,

We have a major opportunity right now to get Congress to pass critical
safeguards to protect our families against toxic "forever" chemicals
called PFAS — and we urgently need your help to make sure this legislation
gets signed into law.

Congress will soon vote on a must-pass defense bill — the National Defense
Authorization Act — that could also help protect our health by including
PFAS protections and other key environmental provisions.

[ [link removed] ]Tell your senators and representative to include important safeguards
against dangerous PFAS in this year's federal defense bill.

These highly toxic forever chemicals are in nonstick cookware, clothing,
carpets, cosmetics, firefighting foam, and more.

They've been linked to cancer, thyroid and liver disease, hormone
disruption, developmental effects, higher cholesterol, and weakened immune
systems.

PFAS spread quickly, don't break down easily, and show up at unsafe levels
in waterways and drinking water. More and more people are joining the
movement to stop this crisis, and some states are cracking down on
contamination — but to truly address this problem, we need federal action
now.

[ [link removed] ]Tell Congress to do their part to protect our communities from toxic
PFAS forever chemicals!

These lifesaving provisions would add PFAS as a hazardous substance under
the federal Superfund program and regulate PFAS under the Clean Water Act,
which will hold polluters accountable and help communities clean up
contamination.

And since this bill helps fund the military, it has passed every year for
decades and is likely to pass this year as well — meaning that if we are
successful in getting these provisions included, they'll be signed into
law by President Trump.

[ [link removed] ]Now is our chance — please make your voice heard at the Capitol today.

Sincerely,

Erik D. Olson
