In a troubling report earlier this month, Forbes detailed how Pennsylvania Republicans are pushing for a privately funded election probe and “forensic audit” of the state's results.
Pennsylvania state Sen. Doug Mastriano, a Republican who chairs the Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee, was one of three Pennsylvania lawmakers to visit the Arizona audit in June. He recently briefed Republican state senators on Wednesday on his plan for an audit in the state. He also asked a law firm whether a privately funded “oversight investigation” akin to the Arizona audit would be permissible under state law.
According to the law firm, the Pennsylvania audit would aim to “develop legislation which will enhance voter participation and election integrity.”
The 2020 election was free and fair. It was driven by the highest voter turnout in recent history -- but the GOP wants to convince millions of Americans that our victories were fraudulent. The Big Lie is impacting our district too -- Republicans recently held a fundraiser near PA-05 to tell voters that Democrats can't be trusted to run elections, baselessly claiming that we “ran out of ballots only in heavily Republican precincts” in 2020.
Why? Because if Republicans can keep more people from voting, they have a better chance of winning elections. Grassroots supporters like you know the truth -- our elections are fair, and the Big Lie has no place in politics. But we expect to add 40,000 new constituents during the redistricting process, and so to build the most accurate data on how people feel about this issue, we need to hear from 75 of our most engaged supporters -- so please, tell me where you stand now:
