This is urgent, John: 2021 is on track to be the deadliest year for gun violence in decades.

But the Senate is finally set to vote on background checks legislation, and we need everyone — including you, John — to help it pass: Add your name now to demand Congress pass expanded background checks!

John, I cannot overstate how much we're counting on your action today. As survivors of gun violence ourselves, those of us leading Brady's efforts know firsthand what toll it takes to have to wait for justice and change. When my mother was shot and murdered, I had to wait 12 years. When we fought to pass the Brady bill, it took seven years — and six votes, under three presidents.

Now, after years and years of fighting and lobbying and pushing, we can make things better. We can pass expanded background checks and save lives from gun violence — and we cannot take it for granted. Especially not when we have a gun safety champion like Joe Biden in the White House and advocates in Congress.

But the NRA will fight this bill with everything they have, and its bought-and-paid-for politicians are all too happy to block this opportunity. They know that gun sales have been skyrocketing this year, that deaths by gun violence are rising — and the heartless gun lobby isn't willing to sacrifice a cent of its profits, even if it means saving countless lives. It's on us to make this happen now, so we don't have to wait years again, or lose any other innocent lives.

So please — the Senate will be voting any day now, and we can't delay. Add your name now to demand they pass expanded background checks to keep deadly weapons out of the wrong hands!

Thank you for never giving up the fight.
