Hello John,

As the Finance Director for the California Democratic party, I spend my days deep in dollars and cents; however, I first learned the value of money from my father, a first generation immigrant who struggled and sacrificed to give my sister and I a better chance at the California Dream than he had himself. For years, he drove 3+ hours to work each day to send me to school, and now I run the finance program for the Nation’s largest state party. I will forever be grateful for his sacrifices.

I know my story isn’t unique. There are so many fathers and mothers working tirelessly every day to provide for their children, and sometimes that hard work still isn’t enough. That’s why I believe so much in the work we do as Democrats. We organize to elect Democratic leaders who understand the struggles of working families and are committed to tearing down hurdles so everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Every grassroots donation gets us closer to that goal. That’s why I am so proud of our Trail-Raiser Program. Formed in 2020 when donating to a political campaign was the least of everyone’s financial priorities, our Trail-Raisers raise funds to support critical organizing work and ensure the donor-base of the California Democratic Party reflects the people-power of our state. As a young professional, it has been incredibly rewarding to see an idea that started from scratch grow into a movement.
