Depending on the time of the month or the time of the election cycle, our average contribution fluctuates. But it’s almost always somewhere between $15 to $30 — and that’s something we’re proud of.
Unlike most politicians, Jamaal doesn’t take a single penny from corporate PACs, lobbyists, and dark money sources. Our movement is largely funded by individual supporters who chip in what they can, when they can, from emails just like this one. The fact that our average contribution is $14.81 proves just that.
Does this make fundraising a bit tougher for us? Definitely. But we know it’s the right way to go, especially during a time when so much of our political system is influenced by and caters to the interests of corporations, billionaires, and the outrageously wealthy.
But by only accepting money from individual donors and our grassroots movement, we can ensure that Jamaal can represent us in Congress without any strings attached — and that he can continue causing problems for the status quo.
