Dear MoveOn member,
In May, Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene sparked outrage
when she compared mask mandates to the murder of 6 million Jews by Nazi
Germany.^1
Now, she's at it again, comparing public health officials promoting the
COVID-19 vaccine to Hitler's "brownshirts."^2
There's no place in Congress for Rep. Greene's racism or antisemitism, and
her anti-vaccine conspiracy theories are even more deadly with the Delta
variant of the coronavirus threatening to spread like wildfire in
communities with low vaccination rates.
In fact, Rep. Greene's own district has among the lowest vaccination rates
in the country, with less than 10% of people fully vaccinated in some
counties—and as long as the virus is allowed to spread out of control in
some parts of the country, none of us are truly protected.^3
We've put extremist politicians like Marjorie Taylor Greene in our very
top tier of priority targets to defeat for re-election in 2022, but
donations to MoveOn and other progressive groups have declined since
Donald Trump left office. That's why we're asking you to chip in and help
get Marjorie Taylor Greene and her racist, insurrectionist colleagues out
of Congress once and for all. Will you donate $3 to defeat
the GOP?
[ [link removed] ]Yes, I'll donate.
When Marjorie Taylor Greene compared mask mandates to Nazism in May, she
was pressured to apologize. But she's still at it, proving once again that
she's utterly unfit to sit in Congress. Here's just a partial list of her
worst racist, antisemitic, Islamophobic, and anti-vaccine offenses:
* She has publicly supported calls to execute Democratic elected
officials, including liking a Facebook comment that called for Nancy
Pelosi to get "a bullet to the head."^4
* She suggested the 2018 midterms—when our nation's first two Muslim
congresswomen were elected—were part of "an Islamic invasion of our
government," and she claimed that "Jewish space lasers" were
responsible for wildfires in California.^5,6
* She has expressed support for Pizzagate and QAnon, absurd conspiracy
theories linking Hillary Clinton and other prominent Democrats to
pedophilia and satanic human sacrifice.^7
* She has repeatedly harassed and physically threatened other members of
Congress, including Congresswomen Cori Bush and Alexandria
Ocasio-Cortez, and some members of Congress have even received death
threats from Greene's supporters.^8
* She's pushing anti-vaccine conspiracy theories, claiming "no one cares
about the Delta variant," even as rates of infection rise due to the
highly infectious new strain of the coronavirus.^9
* She voted to overturn the 2020 election and continues to claim the
election was stolen through "fraud with absentee ballots."^10
In order to defeat Greene and GOP extremists like her, MoveOn is preparing
to flood the airwaves and social media with ads, putting up billboards in
key states and districts, and planning a massive grassroots
get-out-the-vote campaign for the midterm elections.
But we know the billionaires will step up to defend the right wing.
[ [link removed] ]We have something better than billionaires: people power. And that's
where you come in: Will you donate $3 to help make sure we
have the funding we need to defeat Marjorie Taylor Greene and other racist
conspiracy theorists in Congress?
Thanks for all you do.
