Dear John

11 JULY IS WORLD POPULATION DAY - the most significant annual observance
day for us at Population Matters. This UN day was established in 1989 and
seeks to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population
issues. At PM, we've marked this event in many different ways, from driving
a digivan around London, to holding a conference in Lagos, Nigeria, to
producing a publication and video on the crucial links between population
and the Sustainable Development Goals

THIS YEAR, WE'RE EXCITED TO LAUNCH SOMETHING NEW: OUR CHANGE CHAMPION
AWARDS! The awards recognise individuals and organisations across the globe
for their progressive, effective and brave work promoting reproductive
rights, defending the environment, and enlightening the public about the
challenges we face and empowering solutions.

The award categories include Women's Champion, Young Campaigner, Family
Choice Champion, Earth Champion, Media Story, Shining a Light, Online
Campaign, PM Supporter and Special Award.

Among this year's inspirational recipients are a teenage girl fighting
child marriage in Zimbabwe, the UK author of a novel addressing the
childfree choice, and a feminist journalist in Bangladesh.
