It’s true...all journeys start with a single step. But you can’t take that step unless you’ve got some sort of idea what direction you want to go in.
When we took the step of founding MLFA, just after 9/11, we had a clear destination in mind— an America
in which constitutional rights are upheld equally for all, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or cultural heritage.
While our destination was clear, the path we needed to take to arrive at that destination was anything but clear. We could never have anticipated that what started as a desire to defend Muslims from the backlash of 9/11 would lead us to founding our own boutique law firm, the Constitutional Law Center for Muslims in America (CLCMA) and establishing partnerships and alliances with other organizations aligned with our mission.
As Muslims worldwide prepare to travel to Mecca, we
at MLFA are looking back at our own journey, examining where we’ve been and taking a fresh look at where we’re going. Over the next few weeks, we are excited to share that journey with you in a series of short emails.
