Texas Legislative Special Session Begins

On July 8, Gov. Greg Abbott announced the Special Session legislative priorities.  Of those listed, of particular interest to Texas Values is SB 4 regarding abortion-inducing drugs and abortion reporting as well as SB 2 to protect women in sports.  In particular, SB 4 would prohibit people from providing abortion-inducing drugs by mail or delivery service, strengthen the laws applicable to the reporting of abortions and abortion complications, and ensure that no abortion-inducing drugs are provided unless there is voluntary and informed consent. SB 2 Would disallow males from competing in female sports by only allowing students to compete on teams consistent with their biological sex on their birth certificates. .

Texas Values applauds Gov. Abbott for taking on these and other important legislative priorities.  Texas Values would also like to see the protection of children from harmful gender transition procedures and treatments.
