Hey John,
Want to learn more about DxE's Theory of Change? Join us this Saturday, October 19th for Meetup: Targeting Systems, Empowering Individuals to learn more about how and why we target systems and not the people caught up in them. Meetups happen every Saturday at 11am at the Berkeley Animal Rights Center and as always, there will be fresh coffee and delicious vegan brunch! Don't miss out :)
Here are the other events we have happening this week (all taking place at the Berkeley Animal Rights Center, 2425 Channing Way, unless otherwise noted). Action events are colored in blue and community events are colored in orange -- both are crucial to our movement!
- Tuesday, October 15th, 1:00pm: Pack the Courtroom for DxE's First Trial: Diestel Turkey Ranch - DxE sued Diestel Turkey Ranch in 2016. Diestel, which is a major supplier of Whole Foods Market, falsely advertised that its turkeys are raised outdoors in picturesque conditions when, in fact, the vast majority are raised in massive industrial sheds. We need as many people as we can get to show the court that people care about the case! Meet us at 1221 Oak St, Oakland, CA 94612 and dress in business casual if you can.
- Saturday, October 19th, 1:00pm: How to Change the World in One Generation - DxE Intro Workshop - Right now the most vulnerable individuals are being exploited on a massive scale and it will only get worse if we don’t take action now. But can we as average citizens really make a difference to help them? The answer is YES. In Direct Action Everywhere’s workshop, you will learn the history of social movements, the ground-breaking new research that shows the power of ordinary people, and the bold plan to nonviolently abolish the most harmful industry on Earth that kills billions of animals every year. After this workshop you will have the tools to begin taking high impact action with thousands around the world to create historic change by saving billions of lives.
ENGLISH: There is violence and injustice all over the world and it will not end by itself. Therefore it is out responsibility to fight for a better world. In this peaceful protest we will play the audio of animals in slaughterhouses so that the public can think about the victims on their plates and that they consider 'food'. We will have people interacting with the public about animal liberation. We will meet at Peet's Coffee (5959 Shellmound Street, suite 85, Emeryville, CA 94608).
