It has been two weeks since the Surfside condominium collapse, and the death toll has risen to 60, with many still unaccounted for.
This is, of course, an unspeakable tragedy, and one which underscores the need for swift action on climate change and a serious commitment to infrastructure improvement.
In the immediate, however, the best way to offer support to the survivors and their families is to contribute to the Support Surfside Fund. This money will allow families who have lost their homes and most of their possessions to get back on their feet.
I hope that the investigation into the collapse will lend some insight into the failure of local authorities to prevent this tragedy. More importantly, I hope that this investigation will prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
But in the meantime, let’s come together to lend some much-needed support to the survivors and their loved ones.
