The majority of Americans oppose taxpayer-funded abortion. Federally, since 1977, the Hyde Amendment has protected American taxpayers from financing abortion on demand. (Unfortunately, Oregon has no similar legislative protection. Taxpayers here fund over half of all abortions.)

The Hyde Amendment first applied to Medicaid, and it has spread to additional federal programs through amendments called Helms, Weldon, Dornan, and more. It's estimated that the Hyde Amendment alone has prevented 2.5 million abortions.

Now the Hyde Amendment and similar pro-life amendments are under attack.

President Joe Biden is seeking to repeal these amendments from his first budget as President.
