We hope you are having a good summer! As we continue our work, we
hope you will join us for one of our upcoming action team meetings.
Please also see our recent
story commemorating the involvement of PA members in the creation
of Durham Pride.
Mark your calendars for the PA PAC
Endorsement Meeting on September 1st. We will
vote on endorsements for the Durham City Council Ward races and the
Durham Mayor’s 2022 primary races.
We will also vote on whether to
finalize the People's Alliance's interim grievance and harassment
policy, which was provisionally approved at our last membership
meeting. Please read and
consider this policy in advance here.
Lapsed members who have not
yet renewed their membership for the 2021 calendar year
can renew
online up until a five days before the endorsement
meeting to speak on behalf of a candidate and vote for their preferred
candidates. Because the meeting will be virtual, memberships must be
paid up five days prior to the meeting to allow for the People's
Alliance to process those memberships and send the zoom link to
registered members.
New members — those who join
less than 60 days before the endorsement meeting — are encouraged to
attend and speak on behalf of candidates but cannot vote to endorse a
candidate for office.

Housing Action Team
The Housing and Transit Team has
moved its monthly meeting to the third Thursday of every month. The
first meeting on this new schedule will be Thursday, July 15th, 2021.

The Education Action Team will have
its monthly meeting on July 15 at 8 pm via Zoom. Click here to go ahead and register for that meeting. Our agenda includes

Economic Justice Action Team (Note new meeting

During our August meeting, we will
meet in our three subcommittees (Green Jobs, Economic Development, and
Workforce Development) to coordinate the remainder of our 2021 work
plan.
