Friends,
On Tuesday, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Commissioner Laura Bishop resigned from my cabinet after MN GOP Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka informed me he would not be confirming her appointment – the same bad-faith, partisan attack he leveled at two of my other commissioners during special sessions over the past year.
It’s beyond disappointing to see Minnesota Republicans continue to use taxpayer dollars to fight me instead of fighting for Minnesotans and the health and wellbeing of our communities – just as they did over the past 18 months during our pandemic response.
Commissioner Bishop’s qualifications are clear, and her principles are unwavering. I’m proud of her for standing firm behind the fact that climate change is real and for refusing to bend her values to get through this disingenuous confirmation process.
For all Minnesotans who share Commissioner Bishop’s conviction that urgent climate action is needed, this is a loss. But we will not back down.
My campaign team set a goal of raising $15,000 by 11:59 pm tonight so we can expand our organizing targets and fight back. Right now, we still need to raise about $3,500 to get there, and I hope you’ll help us out.
Will you pitch in $10, $25, $50, or whatever works for you so we can push back against these GOP attacks and prove that our campaign for One Minnesota is stronger than ever?
I'm grateful,
Tim Walz
