In case you missed the news: The Supreme Court voted to further gut key provisions of the Voting Rights Act last week.
This is a huge victory for Republicans who want to cheat their way into power and make it harder to vote. Voto Latino is working to counteract GOP efforts by mobilizing young Latinxs -- will you pitch in to help? Every donation of $18 helps us get one Latinx young person to the polls: [[link removed]]
The Court’s conservatives -- including Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett -- ruled that Arizona’s voting restrictions could remain in place even though they disproportionately impact minority communities.
Firstname, the defense attorney for the Arizona Republican Party even admitted that these restrictions will benefit the GOP and disadvantage Democrats:
“Politics is a zero-sum game. And every extra vote they get through unlawful interpretation of Section 2 hurts us, it’s the difference between winning an election 50-49 and losing an election 51 to 50.”
With the federal courts on their side, Republicans now have a green light to stack the deck against Democrats by passing even more onerous voter suppression laws.
There’s only one way to fight back against the GOP’s craven strategy, and that’s by DOUBLING DOWN on our efforts to expand the electorate by registering new Latinx votes.
Voto Latino’s proven method gets nearly 80% of the Latinxs we register to cast a ballot, and it helped flip Arizona AND Georgia in 2020. Will you rush an $18 contribution now so we can STOP Republicans from trampling our democracy? [[link removed]]
