Calling all artists, designers, media-makers, crafters, meme-slingers, photographers, poets and painters! This is your chance to take your artistic craft and use it to help win a Green New Deal.

From the start, artistic strategy has been an essential to Sunrise’s success in spreading our movement. Our carefully crafted signs, banners, and camera-ready staging have played a major role in making our actions and our demands go viral in the media.

Now, we want to pass on these strategic art skills to Sunrisers across the country to help your local actions go viral, too.

Get the skills to make your hub’s next strike, rally, or sit-in visually stunning and ready to capture attention in the media. Apply to join the Sunrise Action Art Skills Training, December 13-15 in Kansas City, Missouri.

At the training, you’ll get the chance to practice three major skill areas:

Strategic Design: How to design signs, banners, and other props (like the question cards from our #ClimateDebate campaign) that clearly and impactfully communicate the story and demands of your action.
Art Production: How to physically make all the art for your action! This includes the basics of stencil making and banner painting, and how to run a successful participatory art build for people of all skills and abilities.
Action Staging: How to strategically shape crowds of people at an action into formations that feel energetic and compelling in the moment, and also photograph well so you can capture the press.

After the training, you’ll be ready to take your skills back to your hub or strike circle and plan an action that’s ready to make front-page news.

Sunrise will cover travel costs for you to get to Kansas City, and food and housing for the weekend will be provided.
