John -
Today marks day one of the Texas legislature’s special session -- and instead of focusing on issues that impact working families, Governor Abbott is continuing to play political games because he knows he is in the fight for his political future.

This session will focus on everything from undercutting the sacred right to vote to jeopardizing the safety of trans kids to ripping away abortion rights. Missing from Abbott’s agenda though is one of the biggest issues in Texas: fixing the grid.

It is clear Governor Abbott and Texas Republicans will do whatever it takes to appeal to former President Trump's radical right base, even if it means turning their back on making meaningful reforms that could save lives in the future.

Abbott and Texas Republicans failed to keep us safe back during February's deadly storm. Then they failed to make progress during the regular legislative session. Now, they have already failed the people of Texas again on day one of the special session.

Growing up in Fort Worth’s historic Como neighborhood, Marc Veasey didn’t dream about being an elected official. He just hoped that he would one day be able to make a difference in the lives of his friends and neighbors. That simple goal has taken him all the way to the halls of Congress, where he is proud to represent not only the friends and neighbors he grew up with but hundreds of thousands of diverse voices across North Texas. Now, as Congressman for Texas's 33rd District Marc Veasey serves as the Chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus and Co-Chair of the Congressional Blue Collar Caucus. Please consider making a contribution today to keep sending Marc Veasey back to Washington to fight for North Texas families.
