New South Korean Dog Meat Investigation. Narrated by Kim Basinger

New Undercover Investigation Exposes Illegal Activities and Companion Dogs Slaughtered in South Korea’s Cruel Dog Meat Industry

Take Action Below to Stop Dog Slaughter in South Korea!

Dear John,

Last Chance for Animals (LCA) and South Korean sister organization Animal Liberation Wave (ALW) have released a comprehensive, 8-month undercover investigation into South Korea's dog meat industry.

Narrated by actress and activist Kim Basinger, the undercover video documented systemic cruelty at auctions, markets, farms, and slaughterhouses.

The investigation focused on the Seongnam Moran Market, a.k.a. the "mecca of dog meat", and other facilities related to the market. Throughout the investigation, LCA and ALW documented an ongoing pattern of animal abuse in clear violation of animal protection laws, and have filed an animal cruelty complaint with officials in South Korea.

A new dog slaughter ban has been introduced in the current 2020-2024 South Korean National Assembly.  This bill is an amendment to the Animal Protection Act, prohibiting the act of slaughtering and processing of dogs and cats to use or sell for food.

Although the vast majority of South Koreans oppose dogs being killed for meat, the Government has not advanced prior legislation to ban dog slaughter.

LCA and ALW are calling on the South Korean National Assembly to ensure the swift passage of this important legislation and are calling on Global Citizens to take actions below urging the South Korean Government to enact the law immediately.
