Dear John --
Our NIAC Open Mic night last month was a big success! We laughed, we cried, and most importantly, we celebrated our community and culture during these challenging times.
That’s why I’m excited to invite you to our next Open Mic on Thursday, July 15th at 5pm PT/8pm ET, hosted by NIAC Chicago! We are honored to have local playwright, poetry, fiction writer and professor Ezzat Goushegir of DePaul University starting our event with her original work. Please join us to share your poems and short stories, or simply show-up to listen to some of our talented chapter members. We will be prioritizing submissions that include poetry and stories by female-identified writers, so feel free to share your favorite piece by a female writer!
Thursday, July 15 at 5pm PT/8pm ET

Open-mic nights are only open to local NIAC chapter members, so you must check the box to sign up to become a chapter member in the RSVP form.
NIAC will be hosting Open Mic Poetry & Storytelling nights on the third Thursday of every month. NIAC’s Open Mic Poetry & Storytelling series is a space to be in community with NIAC chapter members all across the country and to celebrate our rich cultural and literary heritage. Don’t miss out on what should be memorable nights of poetry and storytelling!
I hope to see you there!
Myriam Sabbaghi
Community Organizer, NIAC
P.S. We highly encourage you to purchase two of Professor Goushegir’s books in Farsi here and here.
