Youth have always been at the forefront of social and political change, and it’s inspiring to see the power of younger generations in the fight to address the climate crisis and environmental injustice.

Developing youth leaders is critical for building sustained movements for social, racial and climate justice. The Sierra Student Coalition has been contributing to the legacy of youth movement leadership for the past 30 years, training thousands of young people in organizing skills to win campaigns, developing youth leaders to shut down coal plants near their towns and schools, and creating spaces for young people to develop their political and anti-oppression analysis to be true champions for change.

We’ve reached thousands of youth through our summer program SPROG, Climate Justice Academy, national leadership gatherings. We have built a network of young people from across the US and Puerto Rico who are passionate about fighting for climate justice. We have created training spaces where Black, Indigenous and youth of color can grow their leadership in the movement. And with your support, this year we will grow that network, provide resources and trainings, and create opportunities for youth to lead on climate and social justice campaigns.


30 years of youth empowerment is a HUGE milestone and we hope to continue this work for years to come! Will you help us continue the critical work of developing youth leaders in the fight for climate justice?

La juventud siempre ha estado en la vanguardia del cambio politico y social, e inspira ver el poder de las generaciones más jovenes en la lucha contra la crisis climática y la injusticia ambiental.


Desarrollar lideres jovenes es fundamental para construir movimientos sustentables por la justicia social, racial, y climática. Por los ultimos 30 anos la Coalicion Estudiantil Sierra ha estado contribuyendo al legado de liderazgo en el movimiento capacitando a miles de personas jovenes en destrezas organizativas para ganar campanas, formando lideres jovenes para cerrar las plantas de carbon cerca de sus pueblos y escuelas, y creando espacios para que las personas jovenes desarrollen su análisis politico y de anti-opresion para ser verdaderxs promotorxs de cambio.

Hemos llegado a miles de jovenes a traves de nuestro programa de verano SPROG, la Academia de justicia climática, y encuentros nacionales de liderazgo. Hemos construido una red de personas jovenes de todo Estados Unidos y Puerto Rico que les apasiona luchar por la justicia climática. Hemos creado espacios de formacion donde jovenes negrxs, indigenas y de color (racializadxs) pueden crecer su liderazgo en el movimiento. Y con su apoyo, este ano ampliaremos esa red, proporcionaremos recursos y capacitaciones, y crearemos oportunidades para que la juventud lidere las campanas por la justicia climática y social.


!30 anos de empoderamiento juvenil es un GRAN logro y esperamos continuar este trabajo en los anos venideros!
