A Note from Chrissy

This month, both Juneteenth and Pride Month prompted us to reflect on this nation’s past and present – and to continue to fight for true equality and equity for ALL Americans. I called for expansive voting rights reform, sponsored a bill to renew federal support for the UN’s reproductive health agency, successfully secured critical infrastructure funding in Pennsylvania, and called for relief to be paid out to small businesses across the Commonwealth – and across our country. I know there’s quite a bit going on, so here are some highlights from the past month:

CNN
“Top U.S. General ‘Offensive’ to Accuse U.S. Military of ‘Woke’ Culture”

The Republican efforts to divide and politicize the U.S. military are anti-American and deeply concerning. That’s why I was so grateful to hear General Milley’s blunt and honest assessment of our efforts to uncover what drove the attacks on January 6th. When I served as active-duty military, I didn’t serve as a Republican or as a Democrat – I was simply an American citizen who had sworn to protect our Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. The fact that the GOP is using our enemies’ playbook – divide and conquer – as a political strategy is simply unacceptable. Our enemies are watching, and we all need to start acting like it.

Chrissy Houlahan Introduces ‘Support UNFPA Funding’ Act

After the Trump administration withdrew support from the UN’s sexual and reproductive health agency (the UNFPA), I sponsored a bill to re-fund the agency because rebuilding our leadership on the world stage starts by protecting the rights and health of some of our most vulnerable – women and girls. The UNFPA is at the forefront of this necessary fight, and the legislation I announced will support their critical and lifesaving efforts.

Chester County gets $18 million for key infrastructure projects

We must fix the crumbling roads, highways, and bridges across our Commonwealth. Last month, I was proud to have secured $18 million in crucial federal funding for infrastructure projects and good-paying jobs for Chester County. This funding is an investment in our future – and I’m proud that Pennsylvania will be able to benefit from these investments for years to come.

DAILY LOCAL
Houlahan demands release of funds to shuttered venues

It's absurd that the COVID relief we passed for our small venues still hasn't reached their doorsteps. After hearing from small businesses in my district about the dire situation, I led a bipartisan effort – one that’s now over 200 voices strong – demanding the Small Business Association improve the rollout of the assistance our small businesses so desperately need.

That’s it for this month – thanks so much for taking the time to read. I’ll be in touch soon with further updates on all the ways I’m continuing to work to make progress for you and your loved ones.

And, while it's not common practice in Washington, I set aside time every week to call back constituents who've contacted our office. These conversations keep me rooted in the most pressing issues facing our community, and I’d love to hear from you, too!

There is work to be done.

– Chrissy

While Chrissy is focused on delivering progress in the House, fundraising is the last thing on her mind. But the GOP is already eyeing our critical battleground district, and we have to begin building up our resources right now to make sure she can defend this must-win Democratic seat in 2022 – so we’re asking for her:

Will you make a donation to help reelect Chrissy to Congress? Your support will make such a difference in our work to keep this critical Pennsylvania seat blue and defend our House majority.
