There is nothing more precious in this country
than the right to vote. But Republicans — and now their
conservative supermajority on the Supreme Court — believe that
right doesn’t apply to voters of color.

The Supreme Court recently allowed two Arizona
laws to stand that directly target voters of color. In doing so,
they are continuing their gut job of the Voting Rights Act they
started with Shelby Co. v. Holder in 2013.

This is wrong, and we can’t let it happen without
a fight. Will you pitch in today and support our work to protect
the voting rights of people of color in America?

America has a long and sordid history of voting
discrimination targeting Black and brown people. That’s the
reason why the Voting Rights Act was passed in the first place,
to stop Jim Crow laws from barring largely Black people in the
South from voting.

That discrimination is still happening, but our
opponents are sneakier now. Republicans aren’t happy that they
lost the White House and Congress last year. Instead of winning
over voters, they’re passing laws around the country to stop
people of color from voting.

This is wrong, and it’s dangerous. The foundation
of our democracy dictates that voters should pick their
representatives, not the other way around. If voting protections
continue to fall, the rich, powerful, and white people in this
country will control our entire legislative process.

This won’t be easy, but if we stand together we
can ensure free and fair elections for our future. Will you pitch
in today and help protect voting rights for everyone in this
country?
