[[link removed]]Dear John,
Over the Fourth of July weekend, Americans once again experienced the consequences of a deadly epidemic of gun violence. As many celebrated our country’s highest ideals, the stark contradiction between idealism and reality played out on America's streets. A very different version of American life exists in communities across the country perpetuated by decades of disinvestment and unregulated access to firearms.
In the midst of this deadly year, we call again for our elected officials at all levels of government to enact common sense solutions to stop gun violence. We need to confront the politicians that we elected to protect us who are shirking their responsibility to keep Americans safe.
This starts with the U.S. Senate’s vote to confirm David Chipman as the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives so he can expand efforts to stop the illegal flow of firearms to our nation’s streets.
Next, we must continue to work with allies in Congress and the White House to bring votes to the floor on universal background checks, extreme risk protection orders, the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, funding for violence intervention and prevention programs, and lethal means safety counseling.
Gun violence is preventable. We know the policies needed to address it, but we need action from Washington. And we need your help to advocate for change!
Please make a gift today to help us stand up for safe communities. [[link removed]] Your contribution will give us crucial funding to get the job done. Make a donation today to help get these policies passed into law!
Please help CSGV fight for a stronger and safer America! [[link removed]]
