NEWS Tomorrow: City Council To Vote On Hospital Delay on Same Day County Commission Holds Public Hearing NHRMS and the New Hanover County Commission announced a public hearing on the Request for Proposal to sell NHRMC tomorrow. You can read more about it here. In a surprise move the Wilmington City Council has announced that it will hold a vote on the same day to recommend postponing consideration of the sale for one year. The resolution was proposed by Kevin O'Grady and drafted by Paul Lawler. It is co-sponsored by Mayor Bill Saffo and Mayor Pro-Tem Margaret Haynes, and is expected to pass at the Council meeting on Tuesday. For Democrats who oppose the sale, attendance at the County Commission public hearing is probably a better choice to than to attend the City Council meeting, which now seems likely to vote for the resolution to delay. WRAL Outs GOP Official David Lewis in Sketchy Loan Deal (From NCDEMs) Last week, a bombshell report from WRAL revealed House Rules Chairman David Lewis borrowed half a million dollars in June 2018 from John Gray, who was indicted in March for bribing another state official. This isn’t the first time Lewis’ sketchy history has caught up to him. First, Rep. Lewis lied to a federal judge and the public when he insisted maps were not pre-drawn. Then, Rep. Lewis lied to House Minority Leader Darren Jackson so the GOP could hold an ambush veto override vote with less than half of lawmakers present. This story solidifies what North Carolina already knows to be true: Lewis is at the epicenter of the corruption and lies that are central values in today’s NC GOP. Read the full WRAL story here.
