Today, Texas lawmakers kicked off the legislative special session where they’ll consider a range of GOP-backed measures.

Gov. Greg Abbott instructed Republican legislators to take up bills that would make our state less democratic, less welcoming, and less dynamic. These bills would:

Make it harder for everyone -- but especially minorities -- to vote.
Block transgender students from competing in after-school athletics.
Provide funding to arrest more immigrants.
Restrict access to reproductive health care.
Limit teaching about the role of racism in the U.S.

We must stand united in our opposition to these harmful bills. And we must hold Republicans accountable for their attacks on our state’s most vulnerable. So today, we hope you’ll add your name to stand with Boot Texas Republicans in our opposition to Greg Abbott’s legislative agenda.

Greg Abbott and his allies in the legislature have no interest in governing. He’s simply using this special session to suck up to Donald Trump and his MAGA base, and try to win re-election in 2022.

If we allow these bills to become law, Texas will shift even further to the right and our decades-long quest to turn Texas blue will become that much harder. We can’t let that happen.
