John, the far-right is coming after Cori again for speaking the truth about white supremacy and racism in our country.
We'll explain what happened in a moment in this email. After you're done reading, we hope you can chip in $5 to help us fight back against the wave of racist attacks that’s unleashing on Cori right now.
Last weekend, Cori reminded us all that the Fourth of July celebrates freedom for white people — not everyone.
Cori is exactly right. Freedom for Black Americans looks like the end of slavery permitted under the 13th amendment, the end of the War on Drugs, an end to police violence, and more — and we won't stop fighting until we reach Black liberation in its totality.
But Senator Ted Cruz, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, Tucker Carlson, and the far-right launched a vicious wave of attacks against Cori.
John, this is the same kind of hatred and racist attacks that Cori has faced since she announced her run for Congress, and we need your help to answer back.
The far-right continues to attack Cori because she is the only one brave enough to call out white supremacy, and they're terrified of the movement we're building. It's no coincidence that the GOP, Fox News, and every right-wing media group have made Cori and Black women regular targets of their racist talking points.
Today, we need to send a definitive message that we have Cori's back and we're not slowing down our fight to dismantle white supremacy and systemic racism in our country.
Cori is the first activist from the movement for Black lives to serve in Congress. She lived in a car with her two babies, survived police brutality, and overcame insurmountable odds to defeat a 20-year incumbent and win election to Congress, so the far-right isn't going to slow her down.
She ran on a promise to take our fight for racial justice to the next level and she has gone above and beyond to deliver on that promise. From calling out voter suppression legislation, introducing a bill to transform public safety, and leading the way to remove white supremacists from Congress — Cori is leading a bold movement in D.C.
But Cori can't do this work alone: She's relying on grassroots support to power this work. If you can afford it, will you chip in $5 or anything you can today to make sure Cori has the resources to fight off GOP attacks and keep pushing for racial justice?
In solidarity,
Team Cori
