Join us for the first webinar in our Summer Series entitled "Civic Conversations: Teaching Race, Religion, & Politics". I will join Dr. Anika Prather next Thursday, June 15 at 3 p.m. ET to explore our first topic, Teaching Race in the Classroom. Dr. Prather is a former classroom teacher and is currently co-authoring a book on the Black Classical Tradition. She has a special interest in showing how Classical studies can be used to bring racial healing. Join us for this can't miss conversation!

Dr. Anika Prather has a Master's in liberal arts from St. John’s College (Annapolis) and a Ph.D. in English, Theatre, and Literacy Education from the University of Maryland (College Park).  Her research focus is on building literacy with African American students through engagement in the books of the Canon and a self-published book. She has served as a teacher, supervisor for student teachers, director of education, and Head of School. She currently teaches in the Classics dept at Howard University and is the founder of The Living Water School, located in Southern Maryland.  The Living Water School is a unique Christian school for independent learners, based on the educational philosophies of Classical Education and the Sudbury Model.
