John --
As we celebrated the 4th of July holiday, we did so amidst reports that many in the Pacific Northwest, across California, and in the Southwest dealt with record-high temperatures, the start of fire season, and extreme droughts.
It was a sobering reminder that the effects of climate change must be addressed with bold action.
That's why I just led the majority of House Democrats in sending a message to President Biden and the administration that solving the climate crisis can't wait. We need action now.
I was proud to see more than 130 of my Democratic colleagues -- across the political spectrum -- join our call for a 100% carbon-free powered electrical grid, removal of lead drinking water lines, clean manufacturing, and investments in communities that have borne the brunt of the climate crisis.
As we continue our work to improve the country's aging infrastructure, we can't lose sight of how important it is to keep the environment at the forefront. We can’t squander this opportunity to improve our systems of transportation and energy storage in this country. This is our chance at bold action -- that's why I led this letter.
Let's get this done,
Mike
