friend, Last week, the Supreme Court sided with the Koch-funded Americans for Prosperity Foundation, ruling that California cannot require charities soliciting contributions in the state to report the identities of their major donors. This is a win for the Koch network and others who use dark money donations to benefit their agendas. We made our stance on this decision clear, when we released a statement alongside a handful of other progressive organizations: We Dissent! Decisions like this one are why we continue to fight for transparency and accountability. We know the harmful impact dark money brings with it, because we’ve seen it happen over the last decade thanks to the Court’s partisan decision in 2010 called “Citizens United.” Dark money influence leads to the capture of our courts, the stranglehold of academic freedom in higher education, and even to insurrections at the nation’s capitol. Despite everything we’re up against, we’re able to do it because of your support. We’re able to rally against significant Supreme Court decisions. We’re able to dispatch a rapid response to a Koch-aligned candidate for a Falls Church, VA school board.
