Hey there,

On January 6, a violent mob of insurrectionists stormed the Capitol to undermine the results of a free and fair election. They tried to tear down our democracy -- and they failed.

My colleagues on the other side of the aisle believe it's time to move on from the deadliest attack in our Capitol's history. But I remember my fellow lawmakers in gas masks on the House floor. I remember neo-Nazi propaganda and confederate flags shrouding our Capitol. I remember the 5 Americans who lost their lives, and I remember the 140 injured police officers who risked theirs to protect us.

This isn't a partisan issue. This is an American issue, and we owe it to the American people to uncover the truth.

Today, I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on the January 6 Select Committee to investigate the horrors of that day and ensure that it never happens again.

Our democracy is only as strong as the people willing to uphold it, every day, and my hope is that this committee will serve as the first step in a long road to restoring our country. While we may face many challenges ahead, your support keeps me going.

I'm thinking about all of you when I'm fighting for the future of our democracy in Washington -- and I can't thank you enough for trusting me to lead this fight.
