Friends,

Sign the petition: No Veteran who bravely served their country should be deported after their service. We need protections for non-citizen servicemembers NOW.

Immigrants have enlisted in the American military for centuries and served our nation honorably. In return, our nation has provided them an expedited pathway to citizenship--something Democrats and Republicans alike have long supported.

But in recent years, these programs have been eliminated or restricted, resulting in hundreds of Veterans being deported, some to countries they were too young to even remember leaving.

On top of everything else, many of these Veterans are entitled to V.A. benefits like health care for injuries sustained in the line of duty, but can’t always access them from outside of our borders.

No one who has served our nation honorably in uniform should face deportation after their service. We are better than that.

I'm pleased the Biden Administration recently announced a new plan to help these Veterans and make it easier for them to obtain citizenship, but Congress must also act to ensure we keep the promises we've made to those willing to serve our nation. That’s why I’ve introduced a package of bills that would remove barriers to citizenship for servicemembers and Veterans. These bills would:

- Extend military and Veterans benefits to those who would be eligible for those benefits if they had not been deported.
- Identify non-citizens who are currently serving or who have served in the Armed Forces when they are applying for immigration benefits or when placed in immigration enforcement proceedings.
- Allow non-violent, deported Veterans the opportunity to temporarily come back into the United States to receive the VA health care benefits they’ve earned.
- Prohibit the deportation of Veterans who are not violent offenders and establish a visa program through which deported Veterans may enter the US as legal permanent residents to become naturalized citizens.

I refuse to let these men and women believe that their own government has forsaken them.

If you agree that no Veteran who served their country honorably should be deported, then I need you now:

Sign my petition demanding Congress pass this package of bills and take action to stop non-citizen Veterans from being deported.

I feel so fortunate to be able to use my position in Washington to try to make life just a little easier for our Veterans, no matter where they were born. Thank you for helping me do that.

All my best,

Tammy
