"Not a Silent Spectator": Human Rights Activist Fr. Stan Swamy, S.J., Dies in Custody of Indian Government ([link removed])

On July 5, 2021 human rights activist Fr. Stan Swamy, S.J., died of complications from COVID-19 in Mumbai, India while in custody of the Indian government, after months of calls for his release.

"Fr. Stan became a keeper of conscience and awakened hope in everyone,” said Fr. Xavier Jeyaraj, S.J. “We are sure that he ‘will not be a silent spectator even from heaven.’ He will continue to be with each of us to help us ‘speak the truth to power’ and dedicate our lives to the poor and marginalized.” Read more.
