Our fight for a fair, just, and more welcoming immigration system didn’t end with a new administration. Many of the challenges created by Trump now rest with Biden—like keeping the immigration system affordable.
Accessing a fair day in court should not be tied to a person’s ability to pay for one.
That’s why the American Immigration Council is fighting a Trump administration rule that would raise immigration court fees by 800%. These fees impose a wealth test on asylum seekers and low-income immigrants in removal proceedings, making a fair day in court a luxury few could afford.
We challenged the rule in court along with our partners—and a federal judge blocked the fees hours before they were set to go into effect. But with that litigation pending, the threat of the increase remains.
We need your help to ensure this rule never goes into effect.
