Virginians will face a stark choice at the ballot box in November of this year. On the one hand, the Republican Party, led by their Trump-backed nominee for governor, will claim to support working Virginians. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, that nominee spent his entire career as a vulture capitalist, enriching himself at the expense of American businesses and jobs. He, and the rest of the GOP, cannot be trusted with the future of our Commonwealth.

Friends,

As we sharpen our focus on this fall’s general election (chip in to support our work to reach voters and make sure people know how, when, and where to vote!), let’s take a look back at what Democratic leadership over the last few years has made possible:

  • The Voting Rights Act of Virginia, which will ensure comprehensive protections against voter suppression, discrimination, or intimidation, as well as significant improvements in voter access through initiatives like pre-regisration for 16- and 17-year-olds, expanded days for no-excuse absentee voting, and more.

  • The long overdue abolition of the death penalty, which has created an unfair justice system by disproportionately targeting low-income and minority communities.

  • Legalization of simple possession of marijuana for those age 21 or older, a first step towards undoing generations of overly harsh and unfair incarceration policies.

  • The new G3 (“Get Skilled, Get a Job, Give Back”) program that will increase access to higher education for low- and middle-income Virginians.

All of these laws went into effect last week, and every single one of them was made possible because voters like you put your trust in Democrats, and Democrats delivered.

This November — when Virginians will elect new state leadership and representatives in the House of Delegates — we must make sure that we can continue to build on our successes in areas like public education, the environment, healthcare, and so much more. That means electing Democrats up and down the ballot.

Our team is hard at work laying plans for Get Out the Vote programs, partnerships with fellow Democrats and organizations, and movement building. Can you contribute whatever you’re able to make that work possible?

Together, we’ll build a stronger, more equitable Commonwealth.

Thanks for your support,

Team Hashmi
