Dear John,
Over the past few weeks, we’ve shared some of the critical pieces of the voting rights puzzle with you, and how Verified Voting is working to bring those together:
- Connecting with election officials and policymakers across the country to provide guidance and recommendations on expert-backed election security best practices
- Continually updating data that provides a reliable snapshot of the current state of voting technology
- Informing voters and policymakers of what true election security means
We’re halfway through 2021, and our democracy is in a fragile state. Alarming themes have emerged, and we’re worried that the dangerous tactics and toxic narratives that have fueled the Cyber Ninjas exercise in Maricopa County are at risk of being spread to other states.
But we also have reason to hope, as election officials continue to reach out to us for support in planning audits that follow expert-recommended best practices – and the measures that make them possible, like voter-verified paper ballots and strong chain of custody. We need to be there for election officials, voters, and everyone else seeking to understand what goes into making our elections secure, accurate, and verifiable.
Verified Voting exists because our founders saw a disturbing absence in the voting rights puzzle and the need for a national organization focused exclusively on the pieces that make our elections more secure. Six months through 2021, our work is more urgent than it has ever been. And that work is only possible if we have the most important piece of all - you.
Please make a gift today, and join us in ensuring that all voters can have justified confidence their votes will be counted as cast.
With thanks,
Barbara Simons, Verified Voting Board Chair
Cris Landa and Mark Lindeman, Verified Voting Acting Co-Directors
