John,

The Governor's Task Force for Racial Equity in Criminal Justice and the N.C. Association of County Commissioners are hosting three information sessions in July about American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding opportunities addressing both COVID-19 and criminal justice issues in North Carolina.

The session on Thursday July 15th at 12pm is specifically focused on using ARP funding for violence prevention programs. This session is geared towards local government officials but anyone can attend. We highly encourage you to share this information with your local government officials.

Violence prevention programs include community- and hospital-based programs that approach violence as a public health problem and provide solutions including mediation, mentoring, job training, and counseling. These programs offer an approach focusing on preventing violence before it happens. Here is our fact sheet about these programs.

This is an excellent funding opportunity to start a program or expand an existing one. Expert panelists will detail the success of current programs in North Carolina, and outline how ARP funding can support violence prevention programs.

Please let me know if you can attend the event, pass on the information and/or have any questions.

Thank you for your consideration.
Becky
