The USDA conducted this investigation because of EWG’s shocking finding of glyphosate levels in Harris Teeter Organic Brand chickpeas higher than the EPA’s legal limit for non-organic chickpeas.

This was a huge deal: Foods that carry the USDA organic-certified seal must be free of toxic pesticides and dozens of other toxic chemicals.
