Last week, an Exxon lobbyist was caught undercover, bragging how the
fossil fuel giant weakened climate and corporate tax priorities in
President Biden’s infrastructure bill. The lobbyist highlighted the key
role corporate Democrats, like Senators Joe Manchin, Krysten Sinema, and
Chris Coons play in furthering Exxon’s agenda in Congress.

Oceans are on fire and public infrastructure is melting, yet Corporate
Democrats continue to accept money from oil and gas corporations and fail
to act boldly on climate change. Through thousands of dollars in campaign
contributions and influential lobbying, oil and gas companies like Exxon
have evaded accountability and lied to the public, regulators, and
Congress about the actual danger posed by their industry practices.

Oil and gas corporations have resisted Congressional oversight while
manipulating their public narrative and exerting influence in the
policymaking process, but Justice Democrats can’t be bought. Justice
Democrats in Congress are leading the effort to tackle climate change by
raising corporate taxes and holding companies like Exxon accountable for
the harm they’ve caused.
