John: It's hot in California — like really, really hot.

Across the state, we're seeing bridge cables melting, roads buckling, and power being shut off because outdated energy grids are being pushed to the brink of their capacity.

With the impact that extreme weather and record-breaking temps have on our infrastructure, we can begin to see how climate legislation is infrastructure legislation — and as Congress debates the next major infrastructure package, it needs to include a comprehensive climate action component.

Last year, wildfires across the west raged on in record-breaking numbers, burnt homes, displaced thousands of families, and turned skies over California and Oregon orange for days.

This weekend, disturbing images circulated of a large area of ocean on fire in the Gulf of Mexico after an oil pipeline burst. Experts aren’t yet sure how much environmental damage the gas leak and oceanic fireball may have caused.
