We’re sharing an update on our work to advance environmental priorities in the budget: The House Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior has just passed its Fiscal Year 2022 bill — and our priorities are at the forefront.
Working closely with the Biden administration, SEEC members in Congress are repairing the environmental havoc of the previous administration, making long-overdue investments to combat climate change, and returning to science as the foundation for decision-making.
SEEC members of Congress are working long hours to ensure these environmental priorities receive the funding and the attention they deserve.
Here’s a summary of some of the biggest wins in the House Interior Bill: *
$11.34
billion
for
the
EPA,
an
increase
of
$2.11
billion
over
FY
2021
and
$110.8
million
above
President
Biden’s
budget
request;
*
$1.54
billion
for
the
Superfund
program
to
clean
up
environmental
hazards,
an
increase
of
$331
million
over
FY
2021;
*
$5.32
for
State
and
Tribal
Assistance
Grants,
an
increase
of
$1.01
billion
over
FY
2021
and
$194
million
above
President
Biden’s
budget
request;
*
$3.23
billion
for
Clean
Water
and
Drinking
Water
State
Revolving
Funds,
an
increase
of
$464
million.
This
funding
includes
$428.6
million
for
over
280
drinking
water,
wastewater,
and
stormwater
management
projects
across
the
country;
*
$131
million
for
Brownfields
cleanups,
a
$49
million
increase;
*
$326.6
million
in
targeted
grants
for
drinking
water
contaminants
and
wastewater
treatment
for
lead,
nitrates,
and
other
health
hazards;
*
$150
million
for
Diesel
Emissions
Reduction
grants,
an
increase
of
$60
million.
