Last week, the Supreme Court upheld two major voting restrictions in Arizona — setting a dangerous precedent for Republican state legislatures across the country.

By upholding a ban on “ballot harvesting” and a policy that throws out ballots cast in the wrong precinct, the Court gave a greenlight to Republican legislatures to pass discriminatory voting restrictions that disproportionately affect Black and Brown voters.

Republicans can frame these policies as “protection against fraud” but we know that’s not true — It’s voter suppression, plain and simple.

House Democrats passed the For The People Act to protect and expand voting rights and stop voter suppression in its tracks. It’s time for the Senate to act and pass this crucial piece of legislation.
