Friends,

Did you know that earlier this year, my colleagues and I in Congress approved an expansion of the Child Tax Credit through the American Rescue Plan?

It’s true! The new benefits, which begin later this month, will provide the working families supporting four out of five children in Iowa with monthly payments of up to $300 per child – helping families cover the costs of raising our next generation.

You can find more details, including how to file for this benefit if you don’t normally file your taxes, at childtaxcredit.gov.

I want to ensure all families with children in my district who qualify for the Child Tax Credit know this payment is coming and how much they can expect. Payments of up to $250 per child ages six through 17 and $300 per child under the age of six will begin July 15. Couples making less than $150,000 and single parents making less than $112,500 will qualify for the full amount of the expanded Child Tax Credit. Families with higher incomes may receive a smaller credit.

Had you heard that payments of the expanded Child Tax Credit start on July 15?

Be well,

Cindy
