Shifting Demographics Pose Policy Challenges
Since the 1960s the immigrant population in the United States has increased fourfold. The changing demographics of the country present challenges for health policy makers as they adapt to this influx.
They write that "health care inequities among immigrants and US-born residents increased after the Great Recession and later diminished after the Affordable Care Act took effect." They note, however, unremitting health disparities among noncitizen immigrants.
