Great news, John! We're ready to share some final results from our New York City Council races. Six out LGBTQ candidates have declared victory in their council primaries โ€“ the most ever !
We're so excited for Erik Bottcher , who would represent New York's 3rd City Council District (the home of the Stonewall Inn!), Tiffany Cabรกn , who would be the first out LGBTQ person elected to the 22nd District seat, Crystal Hudson and Kirstin Richardson Jordan , who would be the first two Black out LGBTQ women elected to the council, Chi Ossรฉ , who would be the youngest person ever elected to the council, and Lynn Schulman , who would be the first out queer person elected to any public office from Queens. Each of these candidates faced tough primaries, and worked overtime to prove their credentials to voters. And their hard work paid off on Election Day!
These candidates are well-poised to win their general election races in November, and when they do, New York's LGBTQ community will have historic levels of representation. There have never been six out elected leaders serving on the Council in the city's history!
We had so many amazing out leaders bravely run for office in New York City this year, and we're confident that this November, we'll make history in the Big Apple. Donate today to celebrate these groundbreaking wins and increase LGBTQ representation everywhere! [[link removed]]
