Judy, a mother of three children, lives in Zambia. When the only well in her area broke, her family had no choice but to draw water from shallow sources of water nearby. Often such water is contaminated by runoff waste from animals. As a result her children began to experience health problems.

The broken well caused even more challenges as Judy’s family struggled financially. Without sufficient water they could no longer successfully grow vegetables to sell at the market and help provide for the family’s basic needs.

Thankfully, people like you stepped in to help repair the well in her village — and dirty water is now history for Judy and her family. Today they have enough safe, clean water to keep the children healthy and to resume selling vegetables. Local staff teams help maintain the well in her village and have had opportunities to share the eternal hope of Jesus.

In Tanzania a member of the parliament sent a letter stating his gratitude for the water wells partners like you helped to provide in his country:

“Our villages have had a big problem of no safe drinking water.

“Our main sources had been run offs during the rainy season and open, hand-dug wells around the villages. The only means of getting drinking water from the wells has been by rope and bucket, which further contaminates the water as particles from the rope and ground get into water. The result has been the villagers suffering from stomach ailments from time to time.

“Now with a new water point in place and working, the problem will be history and the general public life and performance will start to improve.”

When you help people like Judy and entire villages gain access to safe, clean water, you help them understand that God cares for them and their needs. As a result they are open to hearing about the eternal hope of Jesus; many people come to faith, and new churches are established.
