Voting rights are under attack all across the country — the latest of which right in our neighboring state of Arizona

Maggie Toulouse Oliver, NM Secretary of State

Jack,

In the aftermath of last year's election, the right to vote has been under attack, with several states proposing harmful voter suppression bills across the country.

Just last week, the Supreme Court certified extremely restrictive voting laws right in our neighboring southwestern state of Arizona.

The newest set of restrictions includes severe limitations to mail-in voting, which will disproportionately affect the Native American communities in Arizona — and potentially result in negative impacts on the tribal communities here in New Mexico as well.

This is an absolute assault on one of the most fundamental pieces of pro-democracy legislation, the historic Voting Rights Act of 1965. These anti-voter bills are clearly designed to suppress the voices of minorities and rural communities.

I'm proud to say that New Mexico remains a leader in protecting democracy, and I will not back down against these attacks that are threatening to chip away at our voting rights.

But my race for re-election is swiftly approaching, and I need your help right away to build a strong campaign if I'm going to keep defending New Mexicans against right-wing voter disenfranchisement attempts. Will you pitch in right now so that I can keep fighting to protect our voting rights?
