What will it mean for young people?

Hello John,

I hope this finds you well.

NYCI has been busy supporting the Children’s Rights Alliance online safety campaign over the past few months, and advocating for the voice and rights of young people to be included in the Online Safety and Media Regulation Bill.

We are delighted to share the campaign’s first public event: ‘Online Safety and Media Regulation Bill - What will it mean for children and young people?’ which will take place next Tuesday 13 July at 10:00 am.

This public event is a great opportunity to learn more about the important work of the campaign in advocating for the needs of children and young people in this Bill.

Please find below the details of the Children’s Rights Alliance event and how to register.

As always, if you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to get in touch.

Kind regards,

Sophie

Dear Members and Friends,

We are delighted to invite you to our first public event with our new online safety campaign! The campaign, supported by fifteen of our members: Alcohol Action Ireland, Barretstown, Barnardos, CyberSafeKids, Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, Foróige, Irish Heart Foundation, ISPCC, National Youth Council of Ireland, One in Four, Psychological Society of Ireland, Rape Crisis Network Ireland, Scouting Ireland, SpunOut.ie and Young Social Innovators, has been very busy over the past few months with advocacy on the Government's General Scheme for the Online Safety and Media Regulation Bill. The General Scheme is currently undergoing pre legislative scrutiny and we have been engaged with TDs and Senators to ensure that the rights of children and young people, and the issues they experience online, are front and centre.

With this is in mind, we wish to invite you to a special event on the Bill itself which will look at the opportunities it presents but also some key concerns we have in relation to children and young people. We hope you will be able to join us for this webinar, Tuesday 13 July 10am. The webinar will be chaired by former Senator Jillian van Turnhout with inputs from an expert panel and contributions from young people. We will also have plenty of opportunities for you to engage throughout the day so watch this space for more details!

The webinar is free to attend. You will be able to ask questions throughout the event or if you would like to submit a question in advance, please email Emma here (mailto:[email protected]?subject=Online%20Safety%20Event%20July%2013th) .
