The Tokyo Olympics begin on 23 July and it is allowing men to compete in female categories.

Compared to women, men have more muscle mass, a larger cross-sectional area of muscle, a different skeleton, a lower mass of fat, more tendon stiffness and a higher cardiovascular capacity.

This is blatantly unfair and puts biological women at a considerable disadvantage.

Sign the petition demanding that the International Olympic Committee changes this policy in time for the Opening Ceremony.

SIGN THE PETITION

Dear John,

There is a campaign heating up and I thought you would be interested in signing.

The Tokyo Olympics begin on July 23rd and thanks to a rule change, male-born athletes are now allowed to compete alongside women in female categories.

Disturbingly, the selection of Laurel Hubbard, a biological male, for the New Zealand women’s weightlifting team has robbed a 21-year-old woman from Tonga of the life-changing opportunity to compete in her first Olympics and demoralised the entire female weightlifting community who are asking: what is the point in competing?

According to a study by World Rugby there is a 30% difference between the weightlifting ability of women and men.

It’s no wonder that Anna Vanbellighan, a leading female weightlifter due to compete in the Olympics against Hubbard, has described the situation as ‘a bad joke’.

Time is running out. Sign the petition demanding that the International Olympic Committee changes this policy in time for the Opening Ceremony

Winning an Olympic medal has always been accepted as the highest sporting accolade that any athlete can hope to achieve. The competition is all about excellence, pitting those who are at the very top of their game and leaders in their individual disciplines, against each other. This is why it has to be fair and why stringent rules are applied in order to ensure a level playing field.

Men have never been allowed to compete against women because it is a well-established scientific fact that they have a distinct physical advantage.

Compared to women, men have more muscle mass, a larger cross-sectional area of muscle, a different skeleton, a lower mass of fat, more tendon stiffness and a higher cardiovascular capacity. Many studies show that men retain this advantage even after a prolonged period of time where they have been suppressing their testosterone.

The Olympic rules allow for biological men to compete as though they are women if they have managed to keep their testosterone levels below 10 nanomoles per litre, for a period of 12 months. These levels are still 5 times higher than those of biological women, which range from 0.3 to 2.4 nanomoles per litre.

A simple way to think about this difference would be to remember that over 9,000 men have run the 100 metres faster than the female 100-metres world-record holder. Men are stronger and faster than women and this is why they have always been divided into separate sporting categories.

Add your name: challenge this unfairness and tell the Olympic Committee that they need to make the Games fair for women.

It stands to reason that Laurel Hubbard is going to have an unfair advantage if he is allowed to compete in this Summer’s games.

Hubbard is now 43, but until the age of 35 was a man named Gavin who had already enjoyed some minor success in male weightlifting. Upon being allowed entry into the female category, where the average age of competitors is 24, Hubbard proceeded to destroy all the opposition, thanks to his considerable physical advantage.

Hubbard may not be the only male to be competing alongside women this Summer. Sports journalists are tipping at least another 5 men to qualify for the Games and another 3 who will be competing in the Paralympics. The ideologues championing this madness claim it is about promoting inclusiveness, but the reality is that every time a biological male is allowed into a squad, a biological woman is excluded.

What is the point of years of training, of dedication and skill when you stand no hope of being selected or of winning a medal because you are being pitted against men with a physical advantage?

This whole issue of allowing male-born athletes allowed to compete alongside women in female categories is a clear example of the stupidity of gender ideology. It does not matter how a person perceives or feels about themselves   A male-born person is a man and always will be. Biology is not ideology!

Allowing men to compete alongside women makes a mockery of the Olympic Games. It is destroying principles of fairness and equality and if allowed to continue will erase female sport.

Sign here to demand that the International Olympic Committee respect women’s sport and ban biological men from female competitions.

Sincerely,

Caroline Farrow and the entire CitizenGO Team
