Hi Friend,
The infrastructure talks seem to be a game of chess right now.
* President Biden has been flip flopping all over the place trying to appease all sides, claiming victory on reaching a deal on a bipartisan infrastructure bill, before refusing to sign it unless it includes a supplementary “human infrastructure” bill that House and Senate Democrats are demanding.
* The bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus have endorsed a singular bipartisan bill, not a 2-track option that includes the Democrat’s liberal wish-list bill, which some claim could “trip up Pelosi’s strategy.”
* House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has refused to take up any bills until the Senate passes them, while strongly pushing for a “separate social-spending-centric bill providing funds for elder and child care, climate change, education, etc.”
* Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has indicated he’ll push for a vote on the bipartisan infrastructure package and a “budget resolution that would allow Democrats to approve a second bill without Republican support.”

Do you think the infrastructure package should include NON-infrastructure related items? Take this quick 1-question poll. ([link removed])

The problem with the Democrats’ strategy for this “human infrastructure” bill—that focuses on social issues and climate change—is that it falls on the back of the hardworking, taxpaying Americans who can least afford it.

A 2014 Stanford study found “that it is ultimately people—not corporations—who would bear the costs of climate change regulation.”

What do you think about the infrastructure plan?
