John,
Half a year ago, a mob incited by President Trump’s lies desecrated our nation’s Capitol in an attempt to overturn the results of a legitimate presidential election.
They tried to burn down our country, but they did not succeed. Congress did its duty to certify the electoral college results -- the will of the more than 80 million Americans who turned out to elect President Biden prevailed.
But the January 6th attack left an open wound that our nation cannot heal from until we have taken steps to strengthen our democracy and ensure it can never happen again.
Republican lawmakers across the nation are mobilizing to restrict access to the ballot after historic turnout from voters of color last election. The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would restore the full strength of the Voting Rights Act to end racial gerrymandering and stop states from engaging in racist voter suppression tactics.
We must take action to ensure that every American can participate in our democracy and have their voices heard. Sign on to call on Congress to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act immediately!
Thank you for taking a stand,
Elaine Luria
